○ Asia Pacific Print Competition
Seoul International Photo & Imaging Industry Show 2009 / Digital Image Show is hosting the 5th Asia-Pacific Print Competition. It is the international contest applying the screening system of the PPA Print Competition that entry works are examined by 8 examiners. PPA stands for Professional Photographers of America and it has 127 years of history. Applying the open screening system to each piece of work will be a new experience for all the participants. Prizewinning works of 2009 will be exhibited with about 700 prizewinning works from PPA Print Competition Loan Collection 2008 at the Seoul International Photo & Imaging Industry Show.
○ PPA & ASP LOAN COLLECTION
- PPA (Professional Photographers of America)
PPA is the dynamic authority, which was established in 1885 in order to help the photographers to be developed and to be successful. It is the nonprofit association participated and organized by members. PPA gains the public reputation by emphasizing each member’s professionalism, artistry and brotherly affection. Recently, there are approximately 15,000 members from 64 countries who are the professional photographers with Master’s Degree, Honored Master’s Degree, Craftsman’s Degree, Electronic Imaging Master’s Degree and etc. The annual Printing Competition receives nearly 10,000 entries from all over the world, however only 10% among them are graded. About 60~70% of entries are the portraits and the rest is the advertisement photographs.
- ASP (America Societies of Photographers)
ASP was established in 1937 with only 45 limited memberships, however at present, there are approximately 500 professional photographers who have 20 to 30 years of experiences as a photographer. They actively not only publish their own newsletters and collections, but also organize seminars regularly. ASP is managed to sponsor PPA, therefore they plan some projects to support PPA memberships as well as take the head to attain upward of the professional photograph as science and art.
* There will be exhibitions for various piece of arts of high level from PPA and ASP as well as the prizewinning works from the competition. Various works of various materials will furnish you both enjoyment and creative idea at the same time.
* Each of Loan Collection prizewinning work, which was selected among nearly 10,000 entries, will be a good resource for the people who are interested in learning photograph.
